Healthcare case study

Healthcare Distributor: 100% cold chain integrity

Validated reefer routing and priority clearance protected temperature-sensitive stock across a full year.

The challenge

What was going wrong

Temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical stock was exposed at two points in the distributor's supply chain: waiting for clearance at destination, where cargo could sit outside monitored conditions for hours, and during inland transfer, where earlier providers had used unmonitored equipment with no continuous temperature record. A single excursion risked an entire batch, and the distributor's regulator required an auditable temperature history for every consignment, which the previous arrangement could not reliably produce.

The solution

How the programme was built

01

Validated routing

Bromley Logistics selected routes on monitored reefer capacity and continuous temperature logging rather than lowest rate, rejecting carriers who could not guarantee an unbroken cold chain from origin to destination.

02

Priority pre-clearance

Permits and entries were completed before arrival so cargo moved directly from vessel discharge to monitored storage, eliminating the uncontrolled window that had previously existed at the port.

03

Audit-ready records

Temperature logs, permits and delivery records were archived per consignment in a format matching the distributor's regulator's inspection requirements, rather than assembled retroactively when an inspection was announced.

04

Contingency planning

A backup reefer route and an emergency escalation contact were agreed in advance for every corridor the distributor used, so a single equipment failure or delay never became an unmonitored gap in the record.

Every consignment arrived within specification and every record was where the regulator expected it to be.
